Abstract

The main problem of this research is that the use of methods applied in the previous class is monotonous which results in learning appearing to saturate and involve students less directly, thus impacting on the low social interaction skills of students in the classroom. This research is a classroom action research using debate learning method. The focus of the study was 28 VA students from SDN Cimanggah 1 Sukabumi City. This study aims to (1) discuss the application of debate learning methods in social studies subjects aimed at improving students' social interaction skills, (2) improvement of social interaction skills using the debate learning method. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. The results showed that (1) the final questionnaire of students' social interaction skills gained a percentage of 82% with a very strong category, (2) the final results of the observation sheet the teacher's performance obtained a percentage of 79% with a good category, (3) the final results of the observation sheet on social interaction of students get a percentage of 76% in the good category.
