Plagiarism Checker

As a scientific journal that upholds academic honesty, JIAIS (Jurnal Integrasi Al-Islam dan Sains) places the authenticity of scientific works as the main principle in the publication process. Every manuscript submitted to JIAIS will go through the plagiarism check stage to ensure that the published article is truly the result of original thought and research from the author.

Plagiarism checks are carried out by the JIAIS Editorial Board using Turnitin software. The results of this examination are used as initial consideration in assessing the feasibility of the manuscript to proceed to the substance review stage (peer review). As a form of transparency, a report on the results of the Turnitin examination will be given to the author.

JIAIS implements a zero-tolerance policy against plagiarism. Any form of taking ideas, data, or texts from the work of others without the mention of a clear and precise source is considered a violation of the ethics of scientific publication.

To provide clarity to the author, JIAIS sets the provisions for the similarity index as follows:

  1. Similarity Index above 30% is declared rejected. A high level of similarity indicates a serious problem with citation and/or paraphrasing. In this category, manuscripts cannot be resubmitted, and authors are advised to make thorough corrections before submitting the article to another journal.
  2. Similarity Index between 10%-30% Manuscripts with the level of similarity in this range will be returned to the author for improvement. The author is obliged to:
  • adding correct and complete citations to all the sections that are detected to have similarities,
  • fixed the paraphrasing so that it does not resemble the source text even though it has been cited,
  • ensure the use of referrals is done ethically and proportionately.
  1. Similarity Index below 10% is generally acceptable, but editors can still request minor improvements, especially regarding the completeness of the citation or the clarity of the reference source.

Manuscript Revision and Resubmission

For manuscripts that fall into categories (2) and (3), the author is expected to revise carefully and responsibly. After the revision is complete, the author is required to re-upload the corrected manuscript accompanied by the latest Turnitin report that shows:

  • there is no element of plagiarism, and
  • The maximum level of similarity is 30%.

Manuscript re-submissions without adequate corrections or without the latest Turnitin report will not be further processed by the editor.

Author's Originality Statement

As part of the commitment to publication ethics, before the article is published, the author is required to sign a Statement of Originality provided by the JIAIS editorial team. Through this statement, the author states that:

  • The article is an original work,
  • is not and has never been submitted to another journal,
  • all reference sources have been cited correctly,
  • and the author is fully responsible for the content of the article.

This Statement of Originality will be kept by the journal manager and displayed on the journal page as a form of accountability and transparency of scientific publications.

With this plagiarism check policy, JIAIS (Jurnal Integrasi Al-Islam dan Sains) hopes to create an honest, responsible, and dignified academic culture, as well as become a credible scientific publication space for the development of science that is integrated with Islamic values or Muhammadiyah Studies.
