Abstract

THE AMOUNT ANALYSIS OF ROLL OVER
PLATE VIBRATION COMPACTION TEST AT HEAP SOIL
ABSTRACT
Stability of a heap land can be achieved by mechanical way called compaction. Compaction will make the soil more dense, the strength of soil increased, reducing compressibility, and capability of soil will increased. Compacting at field generally use a roller machine or vibrator.
Testing the heap soil at Padaraang Village, Padaasih, Gunung Guruh, Sukabumi, West Java 43156 in laboratory using vibrating plate machine. The test include 5 variation of rolling over the soil, that is : 0 roll, 2 rolls, 6 rolls, 10 rolls, and 14 rolls end the main objective of the test is to find how significant the amount of rolling over and the maximum dryness cause the compaction result by vibrating plate.
The early test result, obtaining the density (Gs) of the heap soil, 2,67 incluiding inorganic category sand soils, whilst based on particle size analytical test of the heap soil, the result was coefficient Cu = 3,96 and Cc = 0.65, there for the heap soil are normal gradation sand soil.
Compaction test show the density value which stated as dry weight content (ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾) is 1,08 gr/cm³, the result was achieved at compaction of 6 times rolling over test.
The result of compaction test shown in table and graphic. By the result of compaction test with vibrating plate, can be concluded that the amount of rolling over conduce escalation of dry density (ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾ð›¾) until certain number of rolling over. After that, increasing the amount of rolling over will reduce soil density.
